I am going to find this cafe and burn it down.

*locks eyes with the barista as I spray whipped cream into my coffee*

motherfucker I am PAYING for caffeine and the right to enjoy it any way I want I will cut it with sugar and mainline it right here don’t try me

image

I love coffee, and if brewed correctly it tastes wonderful, unfortunately the majority of barristas aren’t brewing them correctly because the corporation doesn’t have enough training, nor enough staff, their pay is shit and they don’t care, if I were to see this in a coffee shop I’d leave

The pretension is strong with this one!

The Brother My Heart Chose

Calix to Riodan

When we first met, I didn’t notice.

Of course, I was younger then. I didn’t realize

that someone one had hurt my friend.

Someone had cut him to the bone- to the very

wick of his being. He had not gotten better,

but at least I could make him smile. And he made

me smile too. I was pretty easy to make smile,

but I know he loved to see me happy. As I got

to know him, I realized there was pain in the slipcast

of his face. It was quiet it snuck it’s way into him,

as if it pounced on him when he looked away.

God, if I’d known there was a part of my life that

was related to what made him suffer. I would

have been better about it, I would have been sorry, like I am now.

Looking back, I wish he would have

told me. He was ashamed, I would have cupped

his face in my hands and told him, don’t be ashamed.

You did nothing wrong, to survive is never wrong–

I love you. You are the brother my heart chose, you

are the brother my heart chose.

This is a bit of an experiment ^_^. I’m trying to breathe some life back into my long dry poetry well. I had an idea to write poems from the perspective of my characters from one character to another. I thought it would be a good way to show their bonds to one another. I worry they might be a little over-wrought emotionally, I always worry about that with my poetry.

It feels very right to have Calix poem to/about Riodan be the first one. Their relationship is one of the first and one of the most driving forces of the novel. The poem is about the damage Riodan that is the catalyst for his character arc. The poem has Calix having a hindsight and some point of view he might not have in story proper.  I hope you like it!

Oh and suggested musical accompaniment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tKBqJIfqPo&index=5&list=PL6ACE59988DC25193

This song is fantastic and really help inspire the piece, it’s not mine though the song is by Max Richter and features Sara Leonard

Hayley ^_^

FOOD

  • Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
  • grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
  • different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
  • some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit

SHELTER

  • Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
  • sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
  • Some churches offer short term residence
  • Find your nearest homeless shelter
  • Look for places that are open to the public
  • A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry

HYGIENE

  • A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.
  • Public libraries have bathrooms you can use
  • Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.
  • Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver
  • Local beaches, go for a quick swim
  • Some truck stops have showers you can pay for
  • Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet
  • Pack 7 pairs of socks/undies, 2 outfits, and one hooded rain jacket

OTHER

  • first aid kit
  •  sunscreen
  •  a travel alarm clock or watch
  •  mylar emergency blanket
  •  a backpack is a must
  •  downgrade your cellphone to a pay as you go with top-up cards
  •  sleeping bag
  •  travel kit of toothbrush, hair brush/comb, mirror
  •  swiss army knife
  •  can opener

What she says: I'm fine
What she means: The Iron Giant is such a vastly overlooked cartoon classic which didn't get nearly enough recognition despite its originality and its approach to mature topics in a way that was accessible to a young audience. From the way Brad Bird handled the villain, a man driven mad by the paranoia inflicted on him by government propaganda, to his clear and unflinching anti-war message, The Iron Giant encouraged children to question authority and be suspicious of the media we are spoon fed, and I will always wonder whether there were more sinister forces at work which kept the film from reaching a wider audience. Also, I am so thirsty for Dean McCoppin, it is embarrassing.

If you pray...

menofkpop:

please say a prayer for South Korea as 700 schools have been closed and the 3rd death has been reported.  So far 1600 people have been quarantined. Personally, my youngest daughter has fallen ill with flu like symptoms and I am worried because I have been told they are running out of the materials to test for mers. So please keep us in your prayers and everyone else in South Korea.

For those of you who aren’t aware, there’s been an outbreak of MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus) in South Korea. They’re quarantining people to keep the virus from spreading, because currently it has no vaccine, no cure, and a high fatality rate. Please send South Korea your prayers and good vibes.

Reblogging because social media can help outbreaks from getting worst or help slow them on first sighting. According to public health studies the faster a outbreak is in the public awareness the faster agencies can move to contain it.
