Sketch of the Day (December 13th 2014) - had a crazy busy day grocery shopping and putting up our Christmas tree so for today’s sketch I just worked on inking a sketch of flightling Kelveniska, Sukra, Alkane and their respective elven cats that I’d like to colour. The sketchbook it’s in is nearly done, so I need to get a move on inking the nicer, thus far uninked sketches in it before I start a new sketchbook.

Maybe I haven’t seen all the comments on this new lightsaber, but just in case this hasn’t been considered… I understand the idea of the hilt crosspiece and as Colbert says it doesn’t look to be very protective, but not all hilts are protective and are more about grip. What I’m wondering about is how likely you’d be able to injure yourself with the hilt since like the blade of the saber it’s plasma and would burn the crap out of ya, and we’ve seen fights where jedi do get really close to the saber blade. I’m skeptical on its practicality. I’m wondering if it would be like making the crosspiece of a hilt on a sword out of more sharpened blade?

I have a part where I shuffle my foot as I walk in to indicate that I’m there, and then they look up and see me. Well, on the first take we did it, everything was fine, and then I have this epiphany. So, the scene starts, and they start making out—making out hot and heavy, looking hot as hell—as you could tell, since that was the take that was used—and I very quietly tiptoe in. I think they made out for an extra 45 seconds to a minute. (laughter)
Finally, they think, “You know, this is going on for a really long time.” So Dan looks up and he sees that I’m there, and so I smile with a genuine, “Ha ha, got you,” and so the entire scene afterward with the two of them was the genuine giggles with the two of them being embarrassed and caught. It was such a beautiful scene and a lot of fun to do. I bought them a six-pack afterwards, but they were so good about it. The way they embrace their roles is just beautiful because they have no prejudice towards it, and that’s great.”
