I just had to reblog this, it really excites my inner anthropologist. I wore a 13th century headdress for the local Renaissance faire over the weekend. It’s really interesting to see similarities to earlier headdresses and modern ones, or that they look very unique.

The Foundling Museum of London:

I thought this was such a cool museum and collection that I just had to share it. I wish I had this information several terms ago when I was writing my paper on childhood in history. These would have been a nifty source for primary source material. On the other hand, it might have ended up being twice as long.

Hee hee, that’s funny! Also this was sort of my reaction too, except the eliminate all benders part, episode five was fun and I laughed and went aww a lot, but it was also very non-sequester. :D

It’s some pretty fascinating news! I didn’t know about the patching of old maps in order to make corrections, with the technology we have now, it’s so exciting to think what other sorts of things we could find underneath the patches of historical maps!

As a writer I know I’m terrible to characters, so I’m biased, but I want this to happen. It would be tense dramatic and give Korra a whole set of problems to solve that she couldn’t with bending. It would also give her more of a motivation to see what is actually occurring between benders and nonbenders. Being a former bender would put her in a unique situation to really get to the bottom of the conflict.

Turns out the Easter Island heads have bodies, too! Archeologists discovered bodies beneath the 887 stoic faces after 12 years excavating and studying the statues.

“They’re buried up to mid-torso level. So it’s understandable that the general public didn’t have a clue that those statues had bodies,” Jo Anne Van Tilburg, director of the Easter Island Statue Project, told Fox News this week.

While experts have known for some time that much of the stone figures has been partially buried due to centuries of exposure to the elements, “this is the first time that one has been excavated in such a way that the documentation was complete and scientific,” said Van Tilburg.
