elfpen:

I know I’m late to the party but can we please talk about Ben Kenobi from Star Wars #15

I mean look at this loser: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Professional Mother Hen

He still talks to Qui-Gon, which is both amusing and heartbreaking:

He is called upon to beat up a bunch of sandpeople, and to him it’s like a jog in the park:

When people come knocking at odd hours, he doesn’t even bother picking up his weapon, he just levitates it just out of view of the door

He still has dimples and is still SASSY AS HELL

SO

MUCH

SASS

His life is just one heartbreaking reminder after another

And he’s getting older

But he’s still the most badass Jedi around,

with a heart of gold to match - and I’m fairly sure his smile can cure some illnesses:

Conclusion: Ben Kenobi is, in fact, the exact cinnamon roll that we’ve been looking for.

JASON AARON NEEDS TO WRITE MORE OLD BEN JOURNALS

“Wipes away tear”

Owen being all Protective Papa Wolf over Luke always gets to me. (And Ben and Owen butting heads because they’re both trying to be Protective Papa Wolf)

Owen was a gruff sort of man, but all he wanted for Luke was that he stay safe. (And hidden, which adds another dimension to why he didn’t want Luke enlisting in the Academy.)

He kind of reminds me of my grandpa on my dad’s side, actually. Gruff, grumpy old man who very patiently taught me how to whittle, shoot, grow tomatoes, prune a fruit tree, build a fire with flint and steel, and groom a horse. I miss him :(

Aww, I love Obi-Wan so much. Guardian characters are one of my most loved character types. As I find my myself getting older, I also find I’m wanting to mentor and pass on what I’ve learned (even though 30 years doesn’t seem like much in the broader sense of things). I want to nurture others potential, but I don’t feel up to having my own children. I love that original poster @elfpen refered to Obi-wan as a mother-hen even though he’s male. When I’m working with my character Garwin (from Never a Legend kind’a the novels guardian character) I also refer to him as a mother-hen. =^_^=

In addition I really love characters that go through intense hardship, but that are able to retain their personalities and keep going and striving and fighting the fight. Guts from Berserk is another character that really hits that button for me. I call it the Pathos Button XD, because I’m terrible. Obi-wan totally mashes this button like Guts. It’s also one of my main goals for my own work, sorry to all my characters, but especially Riodan.   Although a writer’s gotta do what a writers gotta do ;) When I get some money together I  should buy these comics.
